I am a big fan of decent sci-fi, and also anything SoulsBorne, and this is a great entry to the 'souls' ? genre. As long as you know you're in for a good, if mostly average, early souls-like experience. After 10 hours into The Surge I am truly loving this game. I don't know if I'll play it to the end, but I'm definitely glad I gave it another shot.Ī couple of years back I got the LotF Collector's Edition for about $5.00 and I think that's a great price for the game! Right now that same version is on sale on Steam for only $3.00 so I'd consider it a steal at that price. So right now I would say it's an okay game it's not the best souls-like I've ever played (The Surge, for instance, is a lot better from the get-go), but it scratches a certain itch, and it's interesting to see what The Surge developers were doing before they made The Surge. And all the bosses I've encountered so far have been push overs! I would say if you've sufficiently "gotten gud" at all of the From Software games, you'll breeze through at least the first few hours of LotF. A few hours in and I haven't died once! In fact I've only run into one enemy that has given me trouble and I think he was there as a way to keep me from heading in a certain direction that early into the game. The combat right now leans on the easy side. As I've been playing, the phrase "baby's first souls-like" has been running through my mind. Think of a slower, tanky Dark Souls with character dialog that's actually understandable. My subscription will run out this year and I'm not renewing so I'm considering buying it on pc so I actually own it. Originally posted by a1gundam:How you like Lords of the Fallen? It's pretty good so far.Īnd after that, I'm finally going to try to beat Seikro, so wish me luck! Right now, I'm giving Lords Of The Fallen another shot.I bought it a couple of years ago but gave up after a half-an-hour, so now I'm trying to give it a fair shake. I'm not as big of a fan of the anime aesthetic as I used to be, and the demo didn't do anything to wow me. I tried the Code Vein demo a while ago and didn't get into it. And I love souls-like games, so that helps. Outside of that one gimmick and the power core mechanic, the game is kind of average, but I still found it good enough for a playthrough. I always thought it was cool that you had to dismember your opponents in specific ways to pick up their gear. I don't think The Surge is the greatest non Dark Souls souls-like, but I did really enjoy the combat. Combat still feels kind of weird to me even after getting used to it Took a break on it but yeah i'm close to finishing it, i didn't really have a lot of fun on it compared to dark souls or other souls likes like code vein ( game that i totally recommend if you're into souls-likes) i got gifted the surge 2 but i'm scared that it's gonna be more of the same since the first game is already pretty boring and not that interesting. Since I never had any strong feelings about the setting and the story of Surge 1 but loved the combat, I think I'll pick up Surge 2 when it goes on sale.
